It was so quick I actually thought someone got their animals mixed up.

High quality article writing and good keyword research is even more critical now than ever if you want to stay within the graces of the all mighty Google.

So how does the Penguin Update really effect us?

1. Google switched up their algorithms again to knock the over optimized sites off their high ranking perches.  This means that the use of <h1> keywords, hyper optimized headlines and titles need to be simplified.  No more over doing your page SEO.  Articles need to be written more realistically.

   Change up your title to be more natural reading while still using your keywords.

2. Vary your anchor text and link within the inner pages of our site.  In other words, make the links look more natural, like they came from someone other than the owner/author of the site. You know what I mean.

   Increase the number of anchor texts that use a different version of your keyword, using long tail keywords instead of just your specific keyword.

   

   A good example of long tail keywords built around a main keyword.

   When researching keywords I try to stick to searches that have at least 500 global searches monthly that have low competition.  Provide good content around each of the chosen long tail keywords.

3. Article quality is more important than ever.  To begin with, if you really want to attract great people to join you in your business, what you have to offer them has to be of great value.  For some of us this will be easier than others. To me, taking the time to do the research necessary to really produce an excellent article will pay off in spades.  Not only does it grow my own knowledge, but I appear as the true expert.

   In particular, if you are spinning your articles to create more traffic to your site, then you need to check your articles carefully to make sure the structure is of excellent quality.

4. Make sure you are posting regularly.  I watch the traffic go up and down on my site when I post and when I don’t.  Google likes to see consistent, high quality content and will reward you for it.

Personally, I believe that if the purpose of your article is to provide premium content to the reader, and it is written with that goal in mind that you will be a winner every time.  Keep your focus on helping, blessing, and edifying and you will come out on top.

Six simple tips to keep you working smarter and not harder.

1. When buried in a project or reaching for a goal, you don’t recognize your body screaming for a break.  Sometimes just getting up and walking away from what you’re doing will bring a little inspiration.  Working smarter not harder involves listening on a deeper level.  Sitting at a desk, our bodies bent and sedentary starves our brain cells of necessary blood flow and oxygen.  The simple act of getting up and moving around gets your blood moving and rejuvenates your brain and thus your thought processes.
2. Now, if your job or project is massive and threatens to overwhelm you then you need to break it up into smaller pieces, mini-goals that are achievable in the amount of time you have in a day.
3. Keep progress notes that you can check off as you accomplish particular tasks.  This gives you a feeling of accomplishment and keeps you going.
4. Challenge yourself everyday by reading and listening to audio.  Stimulate your mind by expanding your views.  Keep your self motivated, one step at a time.
5. Sometimes you hit a wall and just need to walk away for a while.  Don’t beat yourself up about it, accept it and come back later with a set of fresh eyes.
6. Don’t let the roadblock discourage you.  Stop and take a new direction, focusing on tasks you know you can accomplish.

Working smarter not harder means being in control of the situation not the other way around.  When you feel yourself slipping out of control that is the time to stop and reassess the situation.  What do you need to do.  Go through the six steps above and choose the most appropriate action.  If there isn’t one that fits then get creative.  But don’t give up.

That was the message I received in an unsubscribe email I got from my auto responder the other day.  Here’s the whole email, and I quote,

“Total Scam!

Hmmm…Empower Network a total scam…

I have been puzzling over this unsolicited opinion since I received it a day ago.  When you’re new to something, as I am new to Empower Network, strong statements such as these stop you in your tracks at least for a moment.  I was no different.

I felt that ol’ seed of doubt starting to germinate in my heart.  That worrisome fear reared it’s head and tried to crush me down.  The self-loathing that rises up and tries to tell me that I’m not smart enough, or good enough, or I don’t deserve it.

But then my wise mind kicked in.  I know how people work, the negative people who want to shoot your dreams out of the sky because for some reason their dreams lie dead within them.  I mean, this guy ended up on my list for some reason.  He was looking for something right.  I really don’t think he’s lurking in other peoples lists just to look for their dreams so he can shoot them down.  He wouldn’t really waste his life like that, would he?

So my wise mind started the process of working through the facts.

1. I have a complete blogging platform on a domain that has 22,447 inbound links (how long would it take me to build that many inbound links, if ever?), has a global ranking of 1,113 (that’s in the world out of billions of websites), and is ranked 285 in the U.S.  In addition EmpowerNetwork.com is ranked 296 in Australia, 272 in New Zealand, and 261 in Ireland.  By the way, Empower Network can pay people in all of those countries.The blog is completely set up and optimized, I don’t have to do anything but go in there and blog – without having to buy a domain name or buy hosting.I do need an auto responder because all of the leads generated through my blog are mine.   All of my links to all of the content created by “Dave Wood” who is a highly successful blogging fool can be tagged with my affiliate id which means that any sales generated by “Dave Wood” through one of my affiliate links is my sale, my 100% commission.  So I have this quirky, highly effective sales person selling for me 24/7 through his blog posts, his videos, his phone calls, his live stream…all I have to do is get people in front of him and when they buy that 100% commission goes into my wallet.  Why would I want to try to do something that he is sooo much better at than I am.  Compared to “Dave Wood” I can’t sell myself out of a web paper bag.  (My wise mind has a point with that one.)By the way those stats are ones that I just now looked up.  Alexa gives empowernetwork.com a 5 star rating!
2. I own the Empower Network products.  What does that mean?  That means I know what the products are and the value I believe they hold.  Do I think they’re worth the investment I made in them?  Absolutely, many times over.  I have been on the internet long enough to know I could spend way more for much less.
3. I can use the knowledge I gain from the Empower Network products and apply that knowledge to any other business opportunity I want and still be active in the Empower Network community without reprisal.
4. When I sell a product I am paid 100% commission on any of the products I own immediately…no funny business, not hidden agenda…100% of what my customer pays, I get paid.
5. Many of the top network marketers in the world are on board with Empower Network and praise the business model as remarkable and genius and they are sharing with the community the insider secrets of how they have built their business into the monumental successes they are.  Where else can you get this stuff?  You choose, spend $100 a month to tap into one man’s marketing strategy or spend $500 for Costa Rica Mastermind where all the top networkers in Empower spilled the beans.

I am so excited!
